This clinic series is designed as an introduction to golf for youth from ages 14 and under.   Our goal is to give children the opportunity to learn the proper fundamentals of golf from both PGA Professionals and other experienced golf instructors.  

The lead instructors are PGA Professional Kevin Nicholson, The Head Golf Professional at LuLu Country Club, and Brian Heffernan the Assistant Golf Coach at Villanova University. The junior golfers will be given instruction on putting, chipping, full swing, and bunker play. They will also be taught about proper on course etiquette, proper golf attire, pace of play, and how to actually play a golf hole. They will learn about tees, fairways, green, rough, hazards and bunkers.  They will learn how to replace divots and rake sand traps. The instruction will include the repetition of drills along with fun games designed to teach good fundamentals of both full swing and short game.  

Groups will be broken down into categories based on age and skill level. They will be rotated through  stations on the golf course and putting green. Each station will teach a specific part of the golf swing.  

Parental Involvement
It is essential to the success of the program that parents be involved. The Instructors will teach the golf fundamentals but the children must be supervised by the parents during instruction and as they move from station to station. We will need a minimum of 2 parents per station, per week. That’s a total of 8 volunteers per week. Volunteers will need to have the same background checks as coaches which JYA will help explain and provide.

Cost
The cost of the clinic series is $125 per junior golfer.

Equipment
Golf equipment is not required.  If your child has golf clubs they should bring them but we will make every effort to have individual clubs available for the clinic.  

Safety
Anytime children are using golf equipment, safety has to be stressed.   Children will need to understand and follow all safety rules.  Instructors and parent volunteers will need to pay special attention to the make sure rules are followed.
