Coaches Registration Info

You can register to coach below or during the process of registering your kid. Once you sign up to coach, the League Coordinator will reach out to you in the weeks before the season is set to begin and arrange to get you all the equipment and information you will need. We will hold a coaches meeting to run through all the details.

IMPORTANT!!

All coaches, volunteers and helpers must obtain the following Clearances and Concussion Certification. #1 & #2 are good for 5 years. #3 must be completed each year. If you already have all the documents listed in Step 1, you can skip to Step 2.

Step 1: Click the links and obtain these 3 documents.
1. Child Protection Clearance: https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home
2. Background Check: https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp
3. Concussion Certification: https://www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports/training/index.html (Click the Launch The Course button)

Step 2: Once you've obtained all 3 clearances send them to [email protected] with "Coaches Clearances" in the subject line.

NOTE! If you have any additional helpers step up at ANY TIME before or during the season you must bring it to our attention right away. ALL HELPERS must register on the website and submit the same documentation as head and assistant coaches.

If you have any questions email us at [email protected] or hit us up on Facebook.

U10 Inter-Community Soccer Coaches Info

Our Inter-Community U10 League is a mini-travel league for kids aged 8 & 9. The Clubs include JYA, Ardsley & Roslyn.

Commissioner: Joe Duffey
Phone: 215 279 0670
Email: [email protected]

Practice & Game Schedules:

  • Games start around the 2nd week of September. We play against teams from Ardsley & Roslyn.
  • Practices start late August
  • We will use a shared google sheet to manage game and practice schedules as well as coaches contact info and location info.

SCHEDULE LINK: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CyBwj1ypGYx_ib5FGtDVxVbxLs86HQRliuwOPou0YLU/edit?usp=sharing

Abington Friends School Fields & Rules

  • Our practice field and home field is the Upper Field at Abington Friends School. (See screenshots below.)
  • The U10 field will be painted inside the Upper Field at AFS. (See screenshots below.)
  • You coaches will set up the goals prior to each game and move them back after each game. They also must be moved back after each practice if you choose to use them for practice. The 8.5x16.5 goals will be behind AFS’s larger goals. (See screenshots below.) You’ll need a few helpers to get them in place and move them back.
  • Corner flags and sideline flags will be stored in the bins behind the softball field at AFS right next to the lower field. (See screenshots below) For your home games, you will put the corner flags in each corner and find 2 teenagers or parents to call out-of-bounds balls with the sideline flags.

Game Changer App

  • Teams will be published in the Game Changer app. When you sign in with the same credentials as the JYA website you will be able to import your team and use the app to communicate with your team. We recommend using the Email option in the app when messaging your team until your whole entire team is using the app.
  • Here’s the app download links: https://gc.com
  • Once created, the Coordinator will import the U10 schedule into our Game Changer system and you will be able to sync it to your app. In addition to the app, you will also have the Google Sheet for reference.

Equipment & Uniforms

  • Everyone receives an equipment bag containing game balls & practice balls, pinnies, ice packs, cones, goalie gloves, whistles, med kids, goalie jersey and a ball pump.
  • You will also receive a coaches shirt and a key to the AFS storage bin.
  • Uniforms are distributed the week prior to the start of games.

U10 Rules & Game Play

  • Keep score as normal during games, but we keep track of the standings on the Google Sheet using a points system; 3 for a Win, 2 for a Tie, 1 for a Loss. Make sure the winning team inputs the score into the Google Sheet after each game.
  • Click here to view the 7V7 Standards. These are the rules we will be following and they include the use of the Buildout Line. This rule allows teams to get the ball back into play without overwhelming pressure. For those of you that are not familiar with the buildout line, here’s some info and a short video about it. You can also read about it in the 7v7 Standards linked above.
    • We are using a size 4 ball and playing 25 minutes halves with a 10 minute halftime.
    • No head balls at this level!
    • Unlimited subs at any whistle
    • Standard offsides rules
    • Standard corner kicks, goal kicks and throw-ins
  • Each coach will bring $15 cash to pay 50% of the $30/game ref fee. I will get you cash for the season prior to the start of games. Pay the ref upfront before the start of the game. You will receive a check to cover all ref fees.
  • Be sure to reach out to the opposing coach before each game to make sure you’re on the same page with time and location. Also confirm your uniform color prior to the game. If the jerseys are too close, one team will need to bring pinnies.
  • We want the culture of our U10 Inter-Community League to be one of respect, fairness and positivity. Do what you can to not allow a run-up of the score. Help each other out out there and always keep in mind that this is all about the kids.
  • Please make sure to run any game cancellations or reschedules through the Coordinators so I can make sure refs are scheduled and fields are available. Remember, the U11 ICSL teams are sharing our U10 game field. Best to use our group text chat for any and all changes.
  • Coordinators will send out text and email notifications to everyone if there are any rainout cancellations.
